We Don't Have Time and Terraformation are proud to present episode 5 of Restoration Conversations, a series about nature's role in fighting the climate crisis. The series will explore topics such as nature-based solutions, biodiverse carbon, seed banks, and more!
In this episode, we focus on biodiverse forests. What place do biodiverse forests have in the carbon market today? Why should we invest in “biodiverse” carbon? How do we convince buyers to choose “biodiverse” carbon? Join us as we speak to Josh Gabbatiss, Climate Policy Correspondent, Carbon Brief, and Dr. Victoria Meyer, Carbon Scientist, Terraformation.
Dr. Sweta Chakraborty is the CEO of North America, We Don’t Have Time. She is a partner at Pioneer Public Affairs. She is also the founder and principal of Adapt to Thrive, a venture that seeks to better inform individuals, businesses, and government entities on the complex, interconnected challenges, such as food insecurity and disease, already existing and emerging from a warming planet.
http://swetachakraborty.comDr. Victoria Meyer is Terraformation’s Carbon Scientist, developing forest carbon models for native reforestation projects around the globe. Before joining Terraformation in February 2021, she worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for nearly 10 years, developing techniques to measure forest carbon using a combination of tree measurements and remote sensing technology, from spaceborne and airborne platforms (mostly Lidar). Field work has taken her to Central America and Africa. Armed with a master's degree in environmental science from the University of Bordeaux, France, where she grew up, Meyer completed her doctorate from the University of Toulouse while working at JPL. Meyer's next mission was in education, first as Scientist-in-Residence at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago teaching environmental science to art students. She then landed at Caltech in Pasadena, California, where she currently lectures engineering students on science communication.
