More recently, he has served as the Director of Communications for the Global Climate Action Summit that took place in San Francisco in September 2018.
https://www.earthday.orgMs. Rosalinde van der Vlies is the new Director of DG ENER’s Directorate B, responsible for Just Transition, Consumers, Efficiency, and Innovation. Before this appointment, Ms. van der Vlies served as the Director of the Clean Planet Directorate in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. She has also held roles as Head of the Coordination & Interinstitutional Relations Unit and Acting Head of the Communication & Citizens Unit. Previously, she worked in the Directorate-General for Environment, Directorate-General for Justice and Home Affairs, and in the private office of Janez Potočnik, the European Commissioner for the Environment. Before joining the European Commission, Ms. van der Vlies worked as a competition lawyer at an international law firm in Brussels and was a part-time lecturer at the Catholic University of Brussels.
Paul is a mechanical engineer with a Master’s degree in energy and is recognised as a leading energy policy expert in Ireland and the EU. Paul ran a local energy agency – an organisation promoting the transition to clean energy at a local level – for eight years. As part of this role, he established an early and successful one-stop shop, which brings together home energy upgrade services for consumers. He worked as an expert for the EU’s ManagEnergy programme, which supports local and regional governments as they work towards their energy savings targets. More recently he has worked as the policy advisor to the Irish climate and energy minister, having helped steer the transformation of the Irish energy system with a significant increase in building renovation, a large increase in heat pump and other renewable energy technology deployment.
My research focuses on the development of cost-effective Thermal Energy Storage (TES) solutions to maximize the penetration of renewable energy while providing stability and flexibility to the energy sector. My research spans component development, prototyping and lab validation via experimental campaigns alongside comprehensive technical, economic and environmental system performance assessments.
Arne Høeg is a mechanical engineer and entrepreneur with 10 patents and designs in the market, including industrial heat pumps, water turbines and subsea drones. His mission is to reduce energy consumption, costs and carbon dioxide emissions in factory processes. His goal is to replace fossil fuel boilers used in heavy industry and centrally heated buildings with steam producing heat pumps on a global scale. Enerin’s flexible heat pumps use half of the electricity than direct electrification solutions. They can be seen as a grid asset because they can collect, store and deliver heat energy over a wide temperature range, when needed.
Christina has been working with sustainability in the business community since the late 1990’s, most recently in her role as Senior Sustainability Specialist at Telia. She has a background from Stockholm School of Economics, and she connects the climate crisis as well as biodiversity loss to business strategy. Throughout her career, she has been working with IT and digitalization, and she sees these technologies as key enablers in building sustainable societies. Christina is a Climate Reality Leader, trained by Al Gore, and from May 2021 she holds the position as Regional Co-Ordinator for Climate Reality in the Nordics. Christina is an appreciated communicator, and she has delivered 75+ climate presentations in the business community.
Anna Hall has a long experience in energy efficiency, innovation, business development, policy making and collaboration between public sector and industry. In her previous work, as the Director for Big Science Sweden, she has been working with cross-function and cross-country collaboration in advanced processes. She has been driving Alfa Laval’s initiative around sustainable cities and has a broad experience in partnerships, both between industries as well as between industry and academia.
Klas Forsström is President and CEO of Munters Group, a global leader in energy efficient air treatment and climate solutions, since 2019. He has a bold ambition: to double Munters in size from 2023 to 2030, while during the same time halving the company’s carbon footprint. To that end, Munters has been positioned to contribute to megatrends like digitalization and electrification through products and digital solutions that optimize efficiency and sustainability in data centers, manufacturing, food processing and more. Klas previously held various senior management positions at Sandvik Group, including President of the Sandvik Machining Solutions business area. He has a Master of Science in Materials Physics and a Master of Business Administration from Uppsala University.
Mario has over 15 years of experience in the lighting industry, and serves as the Global Head of Public and Government Affairs at Signify. In this role, he oversees strategy, outreach, and stakeholder management, focusing on energy and climate change, resource efficiency, and sustainable development. A key aspect of his work is championing the LED lighting revolution. In his role, Mario develops and maintains effective relationships with governments at all levels, participates in industry platforms to support national agendas, and engages with external stakeholders to communicate major technological developments and policy changes.
Vanja Winblad is a sustainability professional at SKF, focused on integrating NetZero goals and sustainable solutions across the value chain serving multiple industries. With a background in industrial engineering and international experience, Vanja has led teams in implementing energy-efficient and circular processes across the manufacturing footprint at SKF. Strong believer that strategic communication combined with expertise in industrial sustainability is crucial to drive meaningful change.
Jose La Loggia is CEO EMEA, Trane Technologies. In this role, he has full responsibility for the strategy, operations, innovation and performance of the Commercial HVAC and Transport businesses throughout the region. Jose has demonstrated leadership and innovation in roles of increasing responsibility since he joined the company in 1994. Previously, he served as president and general manager for the Trane Commercial HVAC business in EMEA, where he improved operational efficiencies and led growth within all revenue streams and functions. His leadership has been instrumental in establishing and growing partnerships with customers, suppliers and partners, which helped drive several acquisitions in EMEA including Thermocold, ICS Cool Energy, AL-KO Air Technology and MTA. Jose is a sought-after speaker on sustainability and decarbonization.
Bill has served as Executive Director of AEE since November 2017, succeeding Al Thumann, Founder of AEE. Bill has been involved in the energy management industry for over 30 years and brings expertise in energy efficiency, automation, building systems, and executive leadership. Since joining AEE in 2007, Bill has led many key initiatives and has managed the day-to-day operations of the organization since his previous role as Managing Director. His current focus is to promote the vision and mission of AEE to both developed and developing countries around the world – reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and improving the quality of life and economic advancement through the implementation of clean energy solutions. Bill attended the University of Georgia and is a Certified Energy Manager® (CEM®) and serves on numerous Boards and Advisory Groups.

The Division is responsible for the end to end process for the products and technologies sold in the energy and process industries. The Division has a turnover of approximately 1,3 BEUR with an operating margin above 15% and 5000 employees. After finishing his Chemical Engineering studies at the Technology University of Denmark, Thomas joined an American company for 5 years working with sales and business development of separation technologies in 2002 he joined Alfa Laval and has had several positions focusing on sales, business development, strategy development and execution.
Dr. Brian Motherway is Head of the Energy Efficiency & Inclusive Transitions Office at the International Energy Agency, overseeing a range of global programmes supporting energy efficiency and people-centred clean energy transitions. Prior to joining the IEA Brian was Chief Executive of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland
Mike Umiker is a dynamic ambassador for energy-efficient technology, best practices and collaboration. His global journey has taken him to the United Arab Emirates followed by Germany, and now back to Switzerland. With a robust career in the industrial sector, he brings a wealth of experience and a global perspective. he holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Marketing Management from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Federico is the Co-Founder and President of the European Youth Energy Network (EYEN), the think tank placing youth at the heart of the European energy transition. He is a young expert in energy policy, international cooperation and sustainable development, and has advised intergovernmental agencies on youth engagement including the European Commission and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). He obtained a double master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Systems powered by the European Institute of Technology (EIT) after completing a Bachelor degree in Energy Engineering at Politecnico of Milan (Italy). Federico is also an energy market consultant with 5+ years of experience of analysing electricity, gas and carbon markets in Europe while developing relationships with relevant stakeholders, policy makers and regulators.
Dominique Silva is the EMEA Marketing Leader at Trane Technologies, responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that aim at building awareness and creating demand for sustainable HVAC and transport refrigeration solutions. As a mechanical engineer with a passion for climate innovation and story-telling, Dominique has served in a variety of roles in the company, including product management, brand management and enterprise innovation. Her proudest achievements include launching several innovative heat pump product lines in Europe. More recently, she led an open innovation crowdsourcing program that leveraged the power of people and purpose to identify and develop solutions for some of the world’s greatest absurdities. Dominique has a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon, as well as a dual-degree MBA from the University of Manchester and Kelley Business School.

Bishal brings 22 years of global experience working with a wide range of public and private sector partners across energy, climate, energy efficiency, environment, and sustainability. He maintains a robust skillset in designing, developing, and implementing multi-dimensional energy sector projects with governments, development agencies and private sector entities. As an economist by training, Bishal's expertise includes financial analysis, quantitative modeling, policy, research and project design. He also has demonstrated track record in the design, implementation, and financing of distributed energy systems, having worked extensively with on and off-grid solar solutions.
Nicole Satshe is the Africa Regional Coordinator at the Youth Climate Council Global Alliance and a committed advocate for climate justice. She works to support youth-led solutions and strengthen community resilience through collaborative, locally driven climate action. Her approach combines grassroots leadership, systems thinking, and a deep belief in the power of collective action to drive meaningful change.
I am one of the central coordinators of the IEA's Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency series, and a policy analyst in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Inclusive Transitions. I split my time between organising this annual high-level event and supporting governments in developing stronger policy on energy efficiency - particularly those in major emerging economies.
